Maono PD500W, the World’s First AI-Powered Hybrid Microphone Launches on Kickstarter

Da Cai Joyce

The dynamic microphone is now live on Kickstarter with hybrid connectivity, 32-bit float internal recording protection and AI-powered content workflow

We are excited to announce that the PD500W, the world's first AI-powered hybrid microphone, has officially launched on Kickstarter. We designed PD500W for podcasters, live streamers, and content creators who need professional dynamic sound, hybrid connectivity, built-in recording protection, and AI-powered workflow tools in one creator-ready microphone system.

The PD500W hybrid microphone is develped in response to a gap in the modern creator workflow. Cameras, phones, and editing tools have become more accessible, yet professional audio can still require extra equipment, technical setup, and time-consuming post-production. We turned those barriers into three design priorities: easier to start, safer to record, and faster to post production.

Through past products, Kickstarter campaigns, and creator feedback, we kept hearing the same starting point: too many creators were still spending more time thinking about cables, interfaces, adapters, gain, and routing than actually recording their idea. We also heard a consistent concern that the setup often felt bigger than the story. That is why we approached PD500W with a simple goal: make it easier to start.

Hybrid Connectivity for Every Creative Setups

We know creators rarely record in one place for long. A session may begin at a desk, continue in front of a camera, and end on a phone while on the move. PD500W is designed for that reality. It supports USB-C, XLR, and 2.4GHz wireless, so creators can move between phones, cameras, laptops, and audio interfaces without rebuilding their setup every time. The wireless receivers support compatible USB-C devices, a direct USB-C connection offers a straightforward computer workflow, and XLR lets the microphone fit into an existing audio-interface setup.

4 Modes Connectivity

We also built PD500W to fit the technical demands of modern production. It uses a 30mm dynamic capsule with a cardioid pickup pattern, a 40Hz-16kHz frequency response, support for sound pressure levels up to 130dB, and wireless performance of up to 100 meters under specified conditions. With RGB lighting disabled, it can deliver up to 60 hours of battery life.

We also kept hearing a different kind of concern from creators who record live or capture moments they cannot repeat. In those conversations, the risk was not only whether the microphone could sound good, but whether the recording could survive a spike in volume, an unexpected reaction, or a less-than-perfect environment. We wanted PD500W to address that fear with a more resilient recording path and safer to record.

Safer Recording with Backup Protection

Some important moments cannot be recorded twice. The PD500W podcasting microphone includes 32GB of built-in storage and supports 32-bit float recording directly inside the microphone to help protect those important moments. Creators can record to the microphone's internal storage while simultaneously sending audio to a camera, computer, or mobile device, adding an extra layer of protection for podcasts, interviews, video shoots, and live productions.

Internal recording

The PD500W AI-powered hybrid microphone also includes a dedicated -9dB safety track, giving editors a lower-level version of the same moment if the main signal becomes unexpectedly loud. We wanted to make recording safer without asking creators to manage a more complicated workflow.

As our Product Director Wilson said, each technology addresses a barrier creators told us they face: getting started without a complicated audio chain, protecting moments that cannot be recorded again, and reducing the work required after recording.

And after the recording is done, we know the work is still not finished. We kept hearing that the slowest part of the creator workflow often comes after capture, when audio still has to be synchronized, reviewed, transcribed, summarized, and organized before it can become something publishable. That is why we designed PD500W to help shorten the path from recording to finished content and creators can faster to post production.

Clearner Voice Capture With Less Adjustment

For many creators, capturing audio is only the beginning. Video recordings still need to be synchronized, and interviews or podcasts still need to be reviewed, transcribed, summarized, and organized before they can become finished edits, show notes, or material for other formats. We designed PD500W to shorten that process. When used with the camera receiver, timecode is designed to simplify synchronization between the microphone's internal recording and compatible camera workflows.

AI Workflow From Recording to Content

After recording, users can manually activate MaonoLink, our companion software, to access internet-connected AI transcription, translation, and summary tools. These tools help identify key material, organize interviews, and prepare podcast notes, and they are planned to release before backer fulfillment, subject to testing and validation. The core audio recording and protection features operate independently of the AI functions.

AI Translation and summarize

As our CEO Alex Lu said, creators should not have to choose between professional sound and a workflow that fits the way they actually create. PD500W brings flexible recording, internal recording safeguards, and an evolving AI workflow together so creators can spend less time managing equipment and more time developing ideas worth sharing.

Built With Our Kickstarter Community

PD500W builds on what we learned from our previous Kickstarter projects, including PD400X and Maonocaster, and on the feedback we have received from creators along the way. Again and again, we heard that great sound quality, simpler setup, reliable recording, and a faster workflow mattered most.

That feedback shaped PD500W from the very beginning. We wanted to create a microphone that not only delivers professional sound, but also makes professional recording easier, safer, and more flexible for modern creators. By returning to Kickstarter, we are inviting our community to be part of the next stage of the PD500W journey.

Super early bird rewards start at $359 and are limited to 30 backers. Campaign information and final reward details are available on the Kickstarter page today. Visit our PD500W Kickstarter page now to explore all reward tiers and claim your spot before they're gone.
