The Story Behind PD500W & Why We’re Back On Kickstarter

By Cai Joyce

Maono believe that anyone who speaks with something meaningful to say deserves to be heard clearly. Whether you are an experienced podcaster, a video creator, a livestreamer, or someone ready to start sharing their thoughts and stories, your voice should not be held back by complicated gear, cables, setup, or post-production barriers.

---Great sound shouldn't be reserved for recording studios, nor should it be limited to audio experts.

For us, The PD500W, The first hybrid AI podcasting microphone begins with a simple belief: your voice matters. As we kept seeing the same pattern in creator workflows: the rest of the production stack was getting simpler, but audio still felt like the part that asked people to slow down, overthink, and solve problems before they could even start.

We do not see creation as something that happens only in a studio. It happens at kitchen tables, in bedrooms, in shared offices, in cars, on location, and across a mix of devices that change from project to project. A creator may record a podcast on a laptop in the morning, interview a guest on a camera in the afternoon, and go live from a phone at night. The tools should be able to move with that reality.

Creators are left dealing with too many cables, too many devices, too many connection standards, too much technical knowledge, and too much risk every time they press record. For a beginner, that friction can stop an idea before it starts. For an experienced creator, it can turn every session into setup work instead of creative work. We built PD500W to change that experience.

Why We Built PD500W

PD500W is part of a longer journey, not a one-off product idea. Before this project, we had already spent years building alongside creators through products like Maonocaster and PD400X, which taught us something important: Creators do not just want more features, they prefer fewer obstacles between the idea in their head and the content they can share. They want equipment that respects the way they actually work, not the way a spec sheet expects them to work.

That is why PD500W is centered on three principles: easier to start, safer to record, and faster to post-production.

PD500W Hybrid microphone

Easier to Start

Getting started shouldn't feel like assembling a small studio. We wanted creators to spend less time researching adapters, checking compatibility, and rebuilding their desks for each new project. With wireless, USB-C, XLR connectivity and a more powerful recording method that PD500W built-in ( will release soon). PD500W gives creators the flexibility of a hybrid microphone without forcing them into one fixed setup. Whether someone is building a first podcast rig or looking for a podcast microphone for beginners, the point is the same: the microphone should make the start easier, not more complicated.

Safer to Record

Creators deserve a more reliable way to record important content. A thoughtful answer in an interview, a spontaneous reaction in a livestream, or a first attempt at saying something honest can disappear if the setup is too difficult or the moment feels too fragile. We wanted PD500W to be the reliable gears for any conversation that cannot be repeated.

Faster to Post-Production

Creators shouldn't get stuck before they hit record—or after they stop recording.  After that comes the work of shaping the material into something ready to share. Ideas often do not fail because they were never captured. They stall because the handoff from recording to publishing takes too long. We designed PD500W to help shorten the workflow, so creators can keep momentum and move from voice to finished content with less friction.

Designed for Real Creator Scenarios

PD500W was designed for the realities of modern content creation. In multi-person podcasts and two-person interviews, wireless freedom keeps the table cleaner and the conversation more natural. In video podcasts, fewer visible cables mean a cleaner frame and less visual distraction. When creators move between phone, camera, and desktop workflows, they need one microphone system that can adapt without making every new project feel like a new learning curve. That is why we think of PD500W as a hybrid podcasting microphone built for flexible production.

We also thought about the places where creators actually record. Most people do not have a perfect acoustic environment. They work in bedrooms, living rooms, shared spaces, event venues, and outdoor locations where fan noise, keyboard clicks, traffic, and room echo are part of the experience. PD500W is meant to help make those voices more usable in real rooms, whether someone is building a podcast microphone for home studio use or recording a podcast microphone for video podcasts on the road. The goal is not to pretend every space is a studio. The goal is to help creators get clearer, more reliable sound wherever they are.

And then there is the person who has not started yet. Some of the most important users for PD500W are not already publishing every week. They are the people with half-written episode ideas, test recordings they never kept, and a story they have been meaning to tell but have not told because the setup seemed too intimidating. We wanted PD500W to feel like an invitation rather than a barrier. You do not need a perfect studio to begin. You need a tool that makes the first step feel possible, especially if you are looking for a podcast microphone for creators that grows with you.

Why We're Back On Kickstarter

Crowdfunding is not only a launch channel for us. It is a conversation with all creators. It gives early supporters a way to be part of the first chapter, not just the final purchase. It also reflects how we like to build: openly, with feedback, and with a community that cares about what the product becomes.

We have learned a great deal from the creator-focused projects that came before PD500W. Maonocaster showed us how much possibility opens up when podcast creation becomes more approachable. PD400X reinforced that flexibility matters because creators do not live in one workflow. PD500W is the next step in that evolution. It reflects what we have heard, what we have learned, and what we still believe: professional sound should be easier to start, safer to trust, and faster to turn into something people can hear. That is the promise behind a better podcasting microphone, and it is the reason were back on Kickstarter.

A Story We Want to Keep Building

PD500W is our answer to the realities of modern content creation—fast-moving workflows, limited space, and the pressure to create consistently.

We want a two-person interview to feel simpler, a video podcast setup to feel cleaner, and a live session to feel more secure. Whether you're recording in a bedroom, at a kitchen table, or in a dedicated studio, great audio should feel within reach. Most importantly, we want the beginners who have been waiting for the right moment to start creating to feel ready to begin.

That is why we built PD500W, why were back on Kicstarter and why we will keep building with the same belief that has guided us from the beginning: Your voice matters. Let the world hear it.
